The domestic household water purifier industry is undergoing a dual adjustment in policy regulation and market structure. With the implementation of several new national standards and the continuous upgrading of consumer demand, the industry is accelerating its departure from extensive growth and low-price competition, entering a new cycle of high-quality development centered on safety compliance, technological innovation, health value, and full-cycle service.

Since the beginning of this year, several new national standards for the water purifier industry have been implemented, comprehensively tightening entry barriers in terms of material safety, performance indicators, intelligent functions, and water efficiency ratings. Among these, the new standard for household drinking water treatment devices adds intelligent function specifications, the general technical standard for the safety of drinking water treatment cores strengthens mandatory safety requirements for filter materials, and the relevant hygiene and safety evaluation standards for drinking water provide more detailed regulations on the restriction of harmful substances in water-related materials and the classification of testing indicators. Combined with the previously implemented water efficiency limit standards for water purifiers, this forms a strict compliance system covering all dimensions of products.

These stringent standards are forcing the industry to accelerate its reshuffling, with outdated production capacity suffering from low water efficiency, falsely labeled parameters, and substandard materials being continuously eliminated, and the market sampling failure rate declining year by year. Industry players have generally increased their R&D investment, focusing on key areas such as membrane material upgrades, long-lasting filter cartridges, water-saving technologies, and intelligent monitoring. Reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, and ultrafiltration technologies are being precisely matched to water quality, usage scenarios, and user groups. Products are upgrading from simple filtration to health-oriented solutions such as "purity + mineral retention" and "integrated purification and heating."

The market is showing significant structural changes. Consumer purchasing logic has shifted from "price-centric" to "full-cycle cost-centric," with greater attention paid to filter lifespan, replacement costs, and energy consumption. Demand has evolved from "end-point drinking water purification" to "whole-house water supply with differentiated quality," with the penetration rate of integrated systems such as pre-filtration, central water purifiers, and water softeners steadily increasing. Smart features are becoming standard, with functions such as real-time water quality monitoring, filter lifespan reminders, and water usage data management making water health tangible and controllable.

Channels and competitive models are transforming simultaneously. Experiential sales integrating online and offline channels have become mainstream. The industry is shifting from selling products one-time to providing long-term water solutions and continuous services. Renovation of old residential areas, supporting facilities in newly built apartments, and commercial scenarios (offices, campuses, and restaurants) are becoming new growth engines. Meanwhile, the advantages of China's domestic water purifier supply chain continue to be realized, product exports maintain steady growth, and the pace of globalization is accelerating.

Currently, the water purifier industry has shifted from being driven by policy dividends to being driven by endogenous growth. The industry will exhibit three major trends in the future: First, market concentration will continue to increase, with companies possessing advantages in technology, brand, and service further expanding their market share; second, health and green technologies will become core competitiveness, with mineral compatibility, low-carbon water conservation, and material safety becoming the main themes of product innovation; and third, segmented application scenarios will deepen, with specialized products for specific groups and scenarios such as mothers and infants, the elderly, and rural areas being rapidly implemented.

With the continuous advancement of the Healthy China initiative and the increasing awareness of drinking water safety among residents, water purifiers are gradually transforming from improvement-oriented home appliances to essential household products. Supported by both standards and technological innovation, the industry will maintain steady development through replacement of existing stock and upgrading of new products, providing stronger guarantees for improving the safety and health quality of family drinking water.
